Marina Epstein Painter
Marina Epstein studied art at the Cooper Union in New York City. During that time she was immersed in the painting of the New York School and Abstract Expressionism. Through her teacher, Nicholas Marsicano, she was able to find a road in which to gradually develop her own language in painting. It is a world of archetypal beings and mythological stories.
Through the years, her painting evolved into a more geometric style with some remnants of the organic world. She was greatly influenced from years of living in Europe and Mexico, inspired by Byzantine mosaics, Venetian architecture and pietra dura. She seeks to evoke in the beholder a world in which time is suspended, a place where the known and the unknown meet.
Marina has exhibited in New York, Vermont and Europe and can be seen at The Hermitage Gallery in Worcester, VT by appointment. Her painting is primarily in oil and egg tempera.
